Crashfree India

Cookie Policy

Effective Date: 05th September 2026

Last Updated: 05th September 2026

1. Introduction

1.1 This Cookie Policy explains what Crashfree India (“Crashfree India”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) stores in your browser when you use crashfreeindia.org, why it is stored, and how you can control it.

1.2 It supplements Section 15 of our Privacy Policy, which governs personal data generally under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

1.3 We do not use cookies for advertising, profiling, or cross-site tracking, and we do not sell or share browsing data with advertisers.

2. What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are

2.1 A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device.

2.2 Websites can also use similar technologies built into your browser — principally local storage and session storage — which serve the same purpose of remembering something between page loads.

2.3 Crashfree India relies mainly on local and session storage rather than cookies. This Policy covers both, and the word “cookies” below should be read to include them.

3. What Crashfree India Stores

3.1 Browsing the public pages of this website — our work, research, the Knowledge Hub, the Project Rakshak dashboard — does not require you to accept any cookies, and none of the items below are created until you use the specific feature they belong to.

3.2 The complete list is:

WhatPurposeCategory & retention
Sign-in session (stored by our authentication provider, Supabase)Keeps you signed in to the Project Rakshak mentor and cohort portal, so you are not asked to log in on every pageStrictly necessary · local storage · until you sign out or clear site data
Portal session identifierDistinguishes one visit to the mentor portal from another so the interface behaves consistently within a sessionStrictly necessary · session storage · deleted when you close the tab
Aasha assistant conversation identifiersLets a conversation with our road safety assistant continue where you left off instead of restartingFunctional · local storage · until you clear site data

3.3 Our hosting and content delivery providers may additionally set strictly necessary cookies required to serve, secure, and load-balance the website. These are operational and are not used to profile you.

3.4 We do not set analytics, advertising, retargeting, or social media tracking cookies of our own.

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 Some features of this website are provided by third parties. When you use those features, the third party may set its own cookies under its own privacy and cookie policies, over which Crashfree India has no control.

4.2 These are:

  • 4.2.1 Razorpay — when you make a donation, payment is completed on Razorpay’s own hosted page;
  • 4.2.2 Google Forms — when you open an application form linked from a programme page;
  • 4.2.3 YouTube — when a page contains an embedded video;
  • 4.2.4 Supabase — our authentication and database provider, as described in Section 3;
  • 4.2.5 OpenStreetMap — map tiles displayed on the Project Rakshak dashboard.

4.3 If you do not use these features, the corresponding third parties are not contacted.

5. How to Control or Delete Cookies

5.1 Because we set no advertising or analytics cookies, there is nothing here to opt out of for tracking purposes — and so this website does not show a consent banner.

5.2 You remain in full control of what your browser stores. Every major browser lets you:

  • 5.2.1 view the cookies and storage a site holds;
  • 5.2.2 delete them for a single site or for all sites;
  • 5.2.3 block cookies and storage entirely, or only for third parties;
  • 5.2.4 clear everything automatically when the browser closes.

5.3 These controls sit under Settings → Privacy in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, and other browsers. Browsing in a private or incognito window discards everything at the end of the session.

5.4 Clearing site data for crashfreeindia.org signs you out of the mentor portal and resets any conversation with the Aasha assistant. Public pages continue to work normally, and blocking storage does not prevent you from reading anything on this website.

6. Changes to This Policy

6.1 If we introduce a feature that stores something new, this Policy will be updated before or at the same time, and the “Last Updated” date above will change. If we ever introduce analytics or any non-essential cookie, we will ask for your consent first.

7. Contact

7.1 Questions about this Policy, or a request to know exactly what is stored for you, can be sent to hello@crashfreeindia.org.

7.2 For your rights as a Data Principal under the DPDP Act, 2023, see our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.
